'm alina cho in new york. >> and i'm dana bash in washington. john and zoraida are off. >> a developing story in afghanistan. an adviser to the afghan police has been shot and killed by a woman wearing an afghan police uniform. the latest in the series of green on blue insider attacks and our pentagon correspondent barbara starr joins us live with details on that. good morning. how unusual is this? >> well, alana, sadly this is a story we've report sod often during the year, haven't we? the details on this attack are different in one respect. as far as we know this is a case where a woman, an afghan woman in a police uniform conducted this shooting and killing. a contractor in cab uhl police headquarters. the nato alliance has already announced the incident but not said the nationality officially of the contractor involved. this typically does not happen where the perpetrator is a woman. they are going to have to determine, of course, if she really was an afghan police officer or perhaps the uniform was stolen or she somehow came into possession of it. a continuing issue in afghanistan

. a week in the man groves in the forest on a boat and a week doing service learning. congratulations. dana, or laura, if you would like to come up and say a little something. >> hi. i am the international program manager at world savvy. i was introduced to this organization because my roommate several years ago pulled me out of bed on a saturday at 7:00 a.m. and when i got there i was amazed at what i found. it was excitement on young people's face as they talked about food security and nutrition internationally. they were high schoolers and it was the world affairs challenge, which is now called the world savvy challenge. the program that we are represent right now is our international programs, our newest program as stated is a fully funded program for youth and educators. at it's highly competitive. so the students going on this program are truly amazing and we're lucky to be traveling with three students from san francisco unified and one educator from there. and just to highlight a few of these things that students will be doing, really stepping out of their comfort level to liv

shopping. shoppers hit the stores for the last time before christmas today. dana telsey is the ceo and chief officer of telsey group. we saw you day after thanksgiving, you said there was going to be sort of a hot -- that weekend was going to be big, there was going to be a lull, and it was all going to come back. has it turned out that way for you, dana? >> i think some of it came back. i don't think all of it came back. i think it was a tougher season than expected. you think you had the long calendar, the hurricane sandy, the track dpi in connecticut, people had a lot on their minds this season. this weekend was a key weekend. i think it helped. i didn't see promotions being extra promotional. but it's a push till the end. >> okay, so winners and losers? >> i think some of the winners, i think you're going to see companies like tjx, macy's. i think american eagle outfitters, even gap had a very good season, along with michael kors. >> losers? >> i think you had a tough time at jcpenney. i think the traffic was tough there all the time. i think kohl's had to be extra promotional
